Why Support Matters

Lantern & Bone is not funded by advertising, sponsorship, or venture capital. It is funded by listeners who believe that long-form, source-grounded history deserves a place in the world — and who are willing to pay a small amount each month to keep that place open.

Your support allows us to spend the time research demands. A single eight-hour episode requires approximately sixty hours of archive work: reading parish registers, tracing newspaper coverage, cross-referencing sources, visiting sites, recording ambient sound. This is not work that can be rushed, and it is not work that can be done for free indefinitely.

It also allows us to remain independent. We do not take sponsorship from companies whose values we do not share. We do not accept advertising that would interrupt the experience we have built. We do not answer to investors who measure success in quarterly growth. We answer to you, and to the sources.

In return, we offer what we can: early access, extended essays, source bundles, and the knowledge that you are helping to keep a particular kind of publication alive. The kind that moves slowly, checks its facts, and trusts its listeners to be patient.
